Sierra County Arts Council
The Sierra County Arts Council is a registered 501 c (3) non profit organization in the state of New Mexico,
headquartered in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico the Council’s mission is to support artistic and cultural diversity through community partnerships and to provide educational, artistic and cultural opportunities to all Sierra County residents. The Sierra County Arts Council utilizes a NM Arts Grant each year and maintains a membership program to bring quality entertainment and art events to the whole of Sierra County NM. A Blues Band concert series, Art Workshops and Art Instruction, an Art Lectures series are some of the 2015–2016 offerings open to residents of all ages. Accommodations are made for impaired individuals at all events with a focus on Veterans.
Major Public Art works are attributed to the Arts Council including the “Hands” Mural on the County Energy Building, “Joy” by R. Wm Winkler and The Truth Monument in the downtown Historic District. The monumental ceramic
sculpture “Plaza at Geronimo Springs” by Northern New Mexico artist Shel Neymark is a delight to residents and visitors alike. Jeff Barbour’s stainless Steel ” Reed Rocket” sculpture will be the centerpiece of the City’s new Art Park on Main Street. The Council supports education yearly with an art scholarship to a deserving Hot Spring High School student.
