Our family caring for yours for five generations
In 1983, when we opened our first facility in beautiful Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, it was the culmination of five generations of quality health care experience. That facility, Sierra Health Care Center, remains the capstone of the Sierra system, offering a full range of in-patient skilled nursing, therapy, and rehabilitation services. Now, with the addition of our specialized Alzheimer’s and dementia neighborhood, Granny Harkey’s, Sierra Health Care Center is known as one of New Mexico’s finest long-term care facilities, and the model of continuum care in small communities..
There’s no place like home.
But we know that there’s really no place like home to get better. That’s why we opened our skilled home health, personal homemaking care and hospice division, Sierra Home Health & Hospice / PCO.
Our most recent addition completes Sierra’s continuum of health care, and is ideal for folks who value their independence (and who doesn’t?), but may need a little extra help on a regular basis: Sierra Hills Assisted Living.
We hope this site will help you learn more about us at Sierra Health Care, Inc. and about our mission in the Southern New Mexico community. Enjoy your visit! Then let our family help take care of your family.
Desert Haven Animal Refuge is operated by The Sierra County Humane Society, a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to the welfare of animals and governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors.

Shattuck Vineyard wines are distinctive, offering both White and Red wines. All wines are made through a typical process; the grapes are crushed, de-stemmed and put through a temperature controlled fermentation followed by a resting and oaking process depending on the wine that is being produced. Once the wine is ready, bottling and labeling takes place at our winery. Our goal is to provide great palatable wines at an affordable price. We are extremely happy to be part of this beautiful Sierra County. Come by, be our guest, try some wine, and take some home!
