Bank of the Southwest opened its doors in Roswell on December 10, 1992. The Bank was originally chartered under the name of First Bank of Truth or Consequences. In March of 1993, the holding company purchased First Bank of Truth or Consequences and changed the name to Bank of the Southwest at Truth or Consequences. In August of 1993, the holding company purchased First Bank of Farmington and changed the name to Bank of the Southwest at Farmington . In 1994, the charter was moved from Bank of the Southwest at Truth or Consequences to Bank of the Southwest at Roswell .
The bank experienced very rapid growth during its first two years. The purchase of the two existing banks in Truth or Consequences and Farmington contributed approximately $70 million in deposits. The “De Novo” or start up bank in Roswell created another $30 million in deposit growth. We have a loyal customer base and have a commitment to providing strong personal service through a truly “community” bank. New branches were opened in Hatch in 1998, and Las Cruces in 1999. The Historic Black Range Lodge
Step into the old west when you enter the Lodge’s spacious lobby. The original brick construction dates back to the 1880s, when the Lodge housed miners and cavalry. Its massive stone walls and log-beamed ceilings were built during the 1930s.
Nestled in the foothills of the Gila National Forest, the Lodge offers easy access to its wild, natural beauty. From our door, a short walk in the clean air takes you along a creek, into the shade of tall Ponderosa pines. A short drive to Emory Pass takes you to a spectacular vista. Bring your mountain bike, and/or binoculars for bird watching.
Centrally located in southwestern New Mexico, Kingston is an easy day trip to Spaceport America, Elephant Butte and Caballo Lakes, the hot springs of Truth or Consequences, White Sands, Las Cruces and old Mesilla.
To the west, a spectacular drive through the Gila Wilderness takes you to the Gila Cliff Dwellings, the City of Rocks, Silver City, historic Pinos Altos, Faywood hot springs, Rockhound State Park, and Deming wineries.

The BGCSC is a non-profit organization opened in 2008, 250 unduplicated youth 6th grade through 12th grade in the community. Years of research confirm that youth who participate in after school programs can reap a host of positive academic, social, prevention, and health benefits, such as: improved academic achievement, improved social and developmental outcomes, increased percentage of healthy lifestyles, and increased knowledge of nutrition and exercise. The research further shows that out-of-school time activities for youth have posi tive impacts on a range of prevention outcomes includ ing avoidance of drug and alcohol use, decreases in delinquency and violent behavior, increased knowledge of safe sex, avoidance of sexual activity, and reduction in juvenile crime.
WHAT WE OFFER
The Boys and Girls Club of Sierra County offers tutoring and homework help, academic enrichment, the arts, music, computer technology, as well as character development and leadership programs, college and career readiness, and recreational activities for youth members between the ages of 12 and 18, or 6th through 12th grade. Youth not in school and adult learner can access the computer lab and tutoring room during non-club hours. Service learning, on-the-job training, and internships are available.
HOURS OF OPERATION
When school is out, the Boys and Girls Club is in. During the school year we are open no less than 20 hours per week. Summer hours are no less than 30 hours per week.
Youth Programming: Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Times are typically extended during summer months to 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Administrative: Monday through Thursday 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Welcome! The Charles Motel & Hot Springs, open to the public daily for lodging and hot spring soaks, retains many historic characteristics that date back from the time the facility was built – the bathhouse layout is original, as is the funky vintage tile work – giving the Charles all the charm in the world.
The Charles is made up of two historical buildings. The Spa building, constructed in the late 1940s, and The Charles Apartments, built in the early ‘30s, sit side-by-side on Broadway, awaiting the arrival of guests who venture to the southwest for a relaxing getaway, or on a quest for healing, or even who “just had to stop in a town called Truth or Consequences.”
The real joy of the Charles Spa and Motel lies in the mineral-rich water that flows from the ground beneath the facility, arriving in the Charles’ baths at a piping 113.5 degrees fahrenheit. This incredible water has been used in healing for centuries.
The Charles Apartments are available for short and long-term stays, with rooms priced by the day or month. The amenities in the rooms include a sitting area, one or two beds, cable tv, and full bathrooms. Most rooms have a full kitchen; all have a refrigerator and microwave. Morning coffee and tea is available in the Lobby.
Overnight guests are allotted one mineral bath per person per day. Guests who stay for longer periods of time are encouraged to buy a bath card to keep on file for soaking as desired.
